[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Prosecutors are investigating officials from Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) involved in an alleged bidding corruption scandal related to a project worth approximately 2 trillion won.

On the 10th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office confirmed that the Daejeon District Prosecutor's Office has been assigned to investigate the bidding irregularities at K-water. This follows the National Policy Coordination Office's discovery of the allegations during a compliance review of the corporation last year.

The investigation focuses on the bidding process for the first phase of the Songshan Green City West District development, a major project valued at around 2 trillion won. It is reported that during the review, the National Policy Coordination Office found that bid information for individual contractors was leaked prior to the official announcement of results.

Investigators discovered that K-water's financial integrated system had inadequate security, which allowed internal personnel to access the bid amounts. The National Policy Coordination Office referred the matter to prosecutors and demanded disciplinary action against the supervisors and system administrators involved.

K-water confirmed that 8 employees are under investigation, but it denied any involvement in unethical conduct, despite acknowledging the unauthorized leak of bid information.
