[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] On Monday (local time), NVIDIA announced plans to invest up to $500 billion over the next four years to manufacture AI-related hardware—including supercomputers—within the United States.

The company has already secured over 1 million square feet (approximately 93,000 square meters) of manufacturing space for the project. CEO Jensen Huang stated, “By expanding our manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., we can meet rising demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthen our supply chain, and improve resilience.”

More specifically, NVIDIA is building a supercomputer manufacturing plant in Texas in partnership with Foxconn and Wistron. The facility is expected to begin mass production within 12 to 15 months, supplying data centers that handle AI computing tasks.

The plant will also be equipped with a “digital twin” modeled using NVIDIA's own technology, and will include custom automation robots designed and built in-house.

NVIDIA noted that this will mark the first AI supercomputers fully manufactured within the U.S..

Additionally, NVIDIA revealed that its latest AI chip, Blackwell, has entered production at TSMC’s Phoenix, Arizona plant. Packaging and testing are being carried out with Amkor Technology and Siliconware Precision Industries.
