[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] A BNK Gyeongnam Bank employee charged with embezzling over 3 billion Korean Won has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the second time. This case is known to be the largest single embezzlement case in history.

According to Newsis, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 6-3 (Judges Lee Ye-seul, Jeong Jae-oh, and Choi Eun-jung) on the 14th rejected the appeal of Lee (52), the head of the Investment Banking Department at Gyeongnam Bank, who was indicted for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement), and upheld the first trial's sentence of 35 years in prison. The court also ordered the forfeiture of approximately 15.9 billion Korean Won.

Additionally, Hwang (name omitted), a securities company sales employee who was also tried, received a 10-year sentence, the same as in the first trial. A third defendant, A, who was involved in evidence tampering by formatting a computer, received a one-year prison sentence with a two-year suspension.

However, the appeals court accepted the prosecution's appeal regarding Lee's wife, Yong (name omitted), resulting in the overturning of the original verdict and an increase in the amount to be forfeited.
