[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit experienced a nearly 12-hour service suspension, prompting the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) to consider an on-site inspection.

Korbit halted all services, including crypto orders and transactions, from 2:30 p.m. on June 16 until 3:00 a.m. on June 17 for a system check. The platform had initially scheduled the maintenance to end by 11:00 p.m., but it was later extended, with trading resuming at 3:00 a.m.

A Korbit spokesperson clarified that no hacking or customer data breaches occurred, but the FSS is reportedly reviewing not only the cause of the outage but also the company’s response and preventive measures.

An FSS official stated, “We plan to comprehensively review the cause of the service disruption, measures to prevent recurrence, and how Korbit is addressing potential user impacts.”
