[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] China's state-run media called for more investment, highlighting the importance of SK Hynix, which operates a semiconductor plant in its country.

SK Hynix has a DRAM plant in Wuxi, NAND Flash in Dalian and a packaging plant in Chongqing.

Regarding SK Hynix CEO Kwak No-jung, who visited Beijing to attend the China Development Forum, China's English-language media Global Times reported in a commentary on the 25th that "SK Hynix emphasizes the importance of the Chinese market while showing its determination to achieve greater success in China."

"Gwak's visit came at a sensitive time when the South Korean government is considering restricting exports of semiconductor production equipment to China," the Global Times said. "We hope such news is not true, but we hope that if South Korea is considering the issue, it will make a rational choice to protect it without harming the interests of Korean companies."

"China is an important consumer of semiconductors, and global manufacturers will face life-and-death problems if they miss a huge Chinese market," the Global Times said. "In a rapidly changing market, SK Hynix must catch up with the trend of investing in China and developing more high-tech semiconductors."

SK Hynix has to walk a tightrope between the United States and China to maintain global semiconductor production and sales.
