Sony Group has made a bid to acquire the U.S. media company Paramount for 35 trillion won.

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] According to reports from The New York Times (NYT) and The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 2nd (local time), Sony Group, in collaboration with the U.S. large private equity firm Apollo Global Management (hereinafter Apollo), has proposed to acquire Paramount Global (hereinafter Paramount), a major U.S. media company, for $26 billion (35.6 trillion won).

Paramount is a large media group that owns the U.S. CBS broadcast, cable channel MTV, and film production company Paramount Pictures.

After news of Sony's acquisition offer and others were reported, Paramount's stock surged 13% as of 3:50 PM on the same day.
