[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, October 30, 2025 — The National Tax Service (NTS) announced the introduction of a real-time data-sharing system with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) to expedite investigations into illegal or disguised real estate funding sources.

By linking Property Funding Source Statements directly between agencies, the NTS can now detect and investigate suspicious transactions up to six weeks faster than before.

“We will enhance transparency by sharing all funding statements and supporting documents in real time,” said Oh Sang-hoon, Director of the NTS Property and Asset Tax Division.

He added that a Real Estate Tax Evasion Reporting Center will open on October 31 to encourage public reporting.

The government also revealed results from a joint nationwide crackdown:

MOLIT referred 2,696 suspicious transactions to tax and financial regulators and requested police investigations into 35 cases.

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) and Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) found 45 cases of mortgage misuse worth KRW 11.9 billion, recovering KRW 3.8 billion so far.

The National Police Agency has investigated 146 cases involving 268 individuals, sending 64 suspects to prosecutors.

To coordinate efforts, a pan-ministerial Real Estate Supervisory Task Force will launch on November 3 under the Prime Minister’s Office, paving the way for a permanent national real estate oversight body early next year.
