[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Incheon International Airport is planning to allow celebrities and other public figures to use a separate exit when departing, citing safety concerns for airport visitors. However, some have raised criticism, calling the measure a "privilege" for celebrities.

According to the aviation industry on the 23rd, the airport recently sent a notice to entertainment agencies titled, "Request for Compliance with Procedures for Using a Dedicated Exit at Incheon Airport During Celebrity Departures." The notice stated that the airport will introduce new procedures to allow celebrities and other public figures to use a dedicated exit in order to minimize crowd congestion, with the policy set to take effect on the 28th.

However, the airport clarified that it is not creating a new exit specifically for celebrities. Instead, public figures will be allowed to use an existing exit normally reserved for crew members and pilots. Celebrities wishing to use this exit will need to submit an official request with supporting documents, such as whether private security will accompany them, at least four days before their departure.

Incheon International Airport Corporation explained that this measure is intended to prevent crowding and disruption, which has occurred during the departure of high-profile celebrities, leading to potential safety risks. The airport stressed that the policy is not a privilege for celebrities but a precautionary step to ensure the safety and convenience of the general public using the airport.
