[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] National Pension Service (NPS) has reportedly sold approximately KRW 200 billion worth of shares in Coupang following a large-scale personal data breach incident.

According to data submitted by the NPS to the office of Rep. Jung Hye-kyung of the Progressive Party on April 3, the pension fund held Coupang shares valued at KRW 201.8 billion as of the end of August last year.

However, the NPS is said to have sold most of its holdings in Coupang starting from late last year.

The divestment is interpreted as part of the NPS’s commitment to responsible investment principles, particularly in response to a data breach at Coupang that reportedly exposed approximately 33.7 million cases of personal information.
