[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, LG Electronics has begun to restart its washing machine and refrigerator production lines at its Moscow factory.

According to IT industry sources on Sunday (local time), LG Electronics has restored some of the production lines in the village of Ruza, Moscow Oblast, to resume the manufacturing of washing machines and refrigerators. Previously, LG Electronics had obtained product certification from the Russian government.

This certification is a necessary document for manufacturing and selling products within Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). LG Electronics explained, "With the factory being inactive for a long time, there was a need to prevent the aging of production facilities," adding, "We have started producing a portion of washing machines and refrigerators at the Ruza plant using inventory materials held by the company."

Other major domestic companies, despite the war, have preserved their production infrastructure and are expected to restore their production and distribution networks once peace is achieved.

Hyundai Steel is also considering restarting its steel plate factory in St. Petersburg and is in the process of recruiting personnel for its local production operations.
