[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced on August 19 that it has ordered the suspension of sales and recall of “Trufarm Flavored Oil” manufactured and distributed by Trufarm Co., Ltd., a food manufacturer based in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.

The decision comes after tests detected benzopyrene levels of 2.5 μg/kg, exceeding the regulatory limit of 2.0 μg/kg. Benzopyrene is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a Group 1 carcinogen.

The recall applies to the 1.8-liter product with an expiration date of July 28, 2026. The MFDS has urged consumers who purchased the product to refrain from consumption and return it to the place of purchase.

The ministry also stated that the Hwaseong city government has been instructed to take immediate measures to ensure the swift recall of the affected products.
