[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Siltron will receive about 100 billion won from the state government as it expands its silicon carbide (SiC) wafer plant, a next-generation power semiconductor material, in Michigan, USA.

According to industry sources on the 12th, the Michigan state government has decided to provide $77 million (about 105 billion won) in investment subsidies and tax benefits for the expansion of the SiC wafer plant, which SK Siltron is expanding in Bay City.

This is an additional support measure following SK Siltron's decision to receive $54 million (about KRW 720 billion) in loans from the U.S. Department of Energy in February.

SK Siltron plans to complete the expansion of the Bay City plant by 2027 based on funds secured from the US Department of Energy and the Michigan State Government.
