[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] The Fair Trade Commission has launched an investigation into allegations that NCsoft encouraged users to pay for items by using characters created by manager accounts in its mobile games.
According to an industry explanation on the 22nd, the FTC sent an investigator to NCsoft's headquarters to secure data on the operation of mobile games 'Lineage M' and 'Lineage 2M'. The FTC is looking into the suspicion of 'Lineage Super Account'. It is suspected that game companies used administrator authority to create characters with powerful items and secretly participated in competition among users.
Earlier, more than 1,000 Lineage users and the Game User Association filed a collective complaint with the FTC to investigate NCsoft's super account. They claimed that game companies used super accounts to stimulate users' competitive spirit and encourage gambling to spend huge amounts of money.
The association plans to file a class action suit if the FTC's investigation turns out to be true about the super account.
