Samsung Electronics has been sued for patent infringement by a US image sensor company.

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] It has been reported that Samsung Electronics has been sued for patent infringement by the US image sensor specialist company, SiOnyx.

According to industry sources on the 7th, SiOnyx recently filed six patent infringement lawsuits against Samsung Electronics, targeting smartphones such as the Galaxy S24 and its own image sensor technology, 'ISOCELL,' in the United States Eastern District Court of Texas. SiOnyx claims that Samsung Electronics infringed on its patents in the technology that separates and then recombines pixels in low-light conditions to improve image quality.

SiOnyx, headquartered in Massachusetts, USA, holds multiple patents for military night vision devices and the associated ultra-low-light CMOS image sensor technology.
