Lotte Infracell, a manufacturer of cathode foils, has signed a long-term raw material supply agreement with German aluminum company Constellium.

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Lotte Infracell, a manufacturer of cathode foils, announced on the 24th that it has signed a long-term raw material supply agreement with the German aluminum company Constellium.

Under the agreement, Constellium will supply aluminum strips, the raw material for cathode foils, to Lotte Infracell's Hungarian plant from this year until 2031. The two companies will also jointly invest €30 million (approximately KRW 45 billion) in Constellium's plant in Zwingen, Germany. Additionally, they will collaborate on research and development of cathode foils and stabilize the supply chain, engaging in comprehensive cooperation across Europe.

Cathode foil is an aluminum foil that determines battery capacity and voltage, accounting for about 2% of battery costs. Lotte Infracell is expanding its Hungarian plant's production capacity, which can currently manufacture 18,000 tons of cathode foil annually. Constellium produces aluminum products used in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, and packaging, with annual sales of KRW 10.8 trillion last year.
