[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, September 22, 2025 – The National Tax Service (NTS) has temporarily suspended the use of Lotte Card for national tax payments in response to the recent customer data breach incident at Lotte Card.

According to the NTS website, starting September 18, taxpayers have been unable to use Lotte Card for payments across all channels, including Hometax online services (inquiry and payment, voluntary payment, and third-party payments) as well as in-person credit card payments at tax offices.

In a public notice, the NTS stated: “Because national tax credit card payments cannot be canceled once completed, we have taken this preemptive step to prevent potential damage by suspending Lotte Card payments. Services will resume once Lotte Card completes reissuance of cards deemed at risk of unauthorized use.”

The move is part of precautionary measures aimed at protecting taxpayers from potential misuse of compromised card information stemming from the hacking incident.
