[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK hynix has established a new corporation in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, marking a significant step in the development of its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) packaging plant. This move was disclosed in the company’s third-quarter report filed with the Financial Supervisory Service on the 14th of this month.

According to the report, SK hynix has set up the West Lafayette LLC in Indiana. Earlier, in April, the company had announced plans to invest $3.87 billion (approximately 5.3 trillion KRW) in building an advanced packaging production base in the state. The project is expected to generate 1,000 jobs and foster collaboration with local research institutions, such as Purdue University, for semiconductor research and development.

The new plant will focus on the mass production of next-generation HBM products, including the sixth-generation HBM (HBM4), along with AI memory products, reinforcing SK hynix's position in the advanced memory market.
