[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] Asiana Airlines' pilot union filed for mediation with the Labor Relations Commission after wage negotiations broke down with the management in 2023.

"We declared a breakdown in wage negotiations at noon today," an Asiana pilot's union official said in a telephone interview with The Fact on the 5th.

Earlier, Asiana's pilot union held 11 official negotiations with the management from November last year until recently. The union proposed an annual 13% increase in basic pay and other allowances, but recently lowered it to 8.5%. The management initially proposed a 5% increase, but recently raised it to 7.5%, but only raised the basic salary and flight allowance.

Labor and management will proceed with the 15-day adjustment process at the Seoul Labor Relations Commission under the relevant law.
