[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 10th that it has signed an extended supply contract with Boeing for the tail structures of the B737 MAX aircraft at Boeing's headquarters in Seattle on the 9th (local time).
This new contract extends the existing agreement for supplying horizontal and vertical tail assemblies for the B737 MAX from 2022 to 2026, now covering the period from 2027 to 2032. The total value of the contract is approximately 1.126 trillion KRW.
The B737 MAX is the latest model of Boeing's mid-range passenger aircraft, capable of carrying up to 230 passengers, and is one of the best-selling aircraft in the world. KAI has maintained a close partnership with Boeing for over 20 years, starting with the supply of wing skeleton structures for the B737 NG (Next Generation) aircraft in 2004.
This large-scale contract is expected to contribute to stabilizing supply chains for Boeing’s suppliers, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and disruptions in the global supply chain, and to stimulate the industry ecosystem.
