[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Doosan Enerbility will supply key equipment for TerraPower's first small modular reactor (SMR) project in the United States.

Doosan Enerbility announced on the 19th that it has signed a contract with TerraPower to review the manufacturing feasibility and provide design support for the SMR key equipment.

Under this agreement, Doosan Enerbility will evaluate the feasibility of manufacturing the initial SMR components and provide design support services. Starting next year, Doosan Enerbility will begin full-scale production of three key components: the reactor pressure vessel, reactor support structures, and core internal structures.

TerraPower is currently advancing a project to build a 345MW capacity SMR unit on land near a coal-fired power plant in Wyoming, USA.

In March, TerraPower became the first of the fourth-generation SMR developers to apply for construction permits from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its initial unit and has started construction in the reactor area.

The project is receiving funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and aims to begin commercial operation by 2030.
