[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] bhc Chicken, operated by Dining Brands Group, announced on the 18th that it will raise the supply price of frying oil to its franchisees by 20%.

Following consultations with franchise owners, bhc will increase the price of its 15kg high-oleic sunflower oil from 75,000 won to 90,000 won starting on the 30th. This marks the first price hike in three and a half years.

The company previously raised sunflower oil prices significantly in July 2022, but subsequently lowered them seven times. bhc explained that the latest increase reflects a sharp rise in global sunflower oil prices as well as higher exchange rates, which have substantially increased cost pressures.

The higher frying oil costs may prompt some franchise owners to consider raising chicken menu prices.
