[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Hynix announced plans to supply its sixth-generation High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM4) to NVIDIA as scheduled. The company emphasized the increasing importance of three-way collaboration with TSMC and NVIDIA in the evolving market for custom HBM products.
At the "SK AI Summit" held in Seoul’s COEX on November 5, SK Hynix Vice President Park Moon-pil highlighted the importance of "Time to Market," stating, “It’s crucial to deliver products promptly when customers need them.”
The previous day, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won shared in his keynote speech that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang had requested an expedited HBM4 supply timeline by six months. In response, SK Hynix CEO Kwak No-jeong announced in May that the company would begin mass production of HBM4 next year, one year earlier than initially planned.
With HBM4, SK Hynix's partnership with TSMC will also be more essential, as the base die for HBM4 will be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced foundry process, rather than SK Hynix’s own DRAM process.
