[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] NH Nonghyup Bank has announced that a financial incident worth 20.5 billion KRW occurred due to excessive lending, and the bank plans to file a lawsuit against an external individual responsible for the issue.

In a public disclosure on Thursday, NH Nonghyup Bank revealed that the incident involved excessive loans caused by an external party, totaling 20.4931 billion KRW. The incident occurred when a loan broker, assigned by a branch, issued mortgage loans for multi-family housing properties without an accurate market valuation, approving loans based on inflated appraised values.

The bank clarified that no internal employees are involved in this financial incident. The incident took place between February 10, 2022, and April 25, 2023, and the estimated financial loss is still undetermined.
