[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Seoul, November 2, 2025 — A whistleblower who reported a stock manipulation scheme has been awarded a ₩93.7 million (approximately USD 68,000) reward by Korea’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) under the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
The SFC said the informant provided detailed evidence, including recorded conversations, proving that the suspects had artificially inflated stock prices using illicit methods. Based on the report, the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) launched an investigation and later referred six individuals to prosecutors for violations of market manipulation and disclosure laws.
The FSC operates a reward system to encourage whistleblowing on unfair trading practices in the capital markets. Informants whose reports substantially contribute to uncovering illegal activities are eligible for compensation, with payouts determined by the severity of the offense, the size of illicit gains, and the reporter’s contribution.
Reports can be filed anonymously, but whistleblowers must verify their identity within one year of filing to claim any monetary reward.
