[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SACHEON, South Korea – June 11, 2025 — Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced today that it has signed an equity investment agreement with Dbrain, a South Korean company specializing in small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Through this agreement, KAI has secured a 37.04% stake, becoming Dbrain’s second-largest shareholder.
Founded in 2013, Dbrain has a proven track record in developing corps-level military drones and agricultural unmanned helicopters. The company is particularly recognized for its expertise in flight control systems and lightweight avionics, including Operational Flight Programs (OFPs).
In 2023, Dbrain was selected as a top 100 defense innovation company in the drone sector, underscoring its differentiated flight control technology.
Through this strategic partnership, KAI aims to secure core technologies and platforms for small UAVs and expand its presence in the domestic unmanned systems market. The initiative is part of KAI’s broader effort to become a leader in next-generation UAV solutions.
The companies plan to jointly develop a new class of small UAVs that are distinct from KAI’s existing medium- and large-size unmanned systems. Once developed, the new platforms are expected to enhance tactical flexibility and operational range for the military, while also contributing to the growth of civilian drone applications in South Korea.
