[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, South Korea – The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) has referred a suspected voice phishing ring to police after discovering an attempt to manipulate information on its financial consumer portal, FINE.

The perpetrators posed as employees of an asset management company, submitting a forged business registration certificate and requesting changes to the firm’s official contact details listed on FINE. The scheme was uncovered when the FSS verified with the actual company, which confirmed no such request had been made.

The FSS emphasized that the incident highlights the importance of vigilance against increasingly sophisticated phishing attempts and pledged to strengthen verification procedures to protect financial consumers.
