[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Naver Executive Chairman Lee Hae-jin has chosen Taiwan as the destination for his first overseas trip since returning to an active management role, where he is expected to meet with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang to discuss potential collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

According to industry sources on May 22, Lee is visiting Taiwan alongside Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon and Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yoo-won. The leadership team is attending Computex 2025, Asia’s largest IT exhibition. This marks the first time Naver's top executives have traveled together to Taiwan. Notably, Naver and Naver Cloud are not operating exhibition booths at this year’s event.

Chairman Lee is reportedly scheduled to meet separately with Jensen Huang, who is also in Taiwan for Computex. This follows their previous meeting in June 2023 at NVIDIA’s headquarters in the U.S., where they discussed "sovereign AI" in Lee’s capacity as Naver’s Global Investment Officer at the time.

A tech industry official commented, “Chairman Lee is actively seeking engagement with the global AI community,” signaling Naver’s deepening focus on international AI cooperation.

Naver Cloud has been promoting sovereign AI as a key strategy in targeting the Southeast Asian cloud market. Similarly, NVIDIA is eyeing growing demand for GPUs in the region. As both companies intensify efforts to expand their AI infrastructure in Southeast Asia, observers are speculating that a formal partnership may be on the horizon.
