[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Netmarble announced on the 27th that a total of 6.11 million user accounts from its PC game portal were affected in a recent data breach caused by external hacking. The company disclosed the findings following its internal investigation.

According to Netmarble, the compromised information from PC game portal services—including titles such as Go and Janggi—covered both active and dormant accounts.

The leaked data includes names, dates of birth, and encrypted passwords. Netmarble confirmed that no resident registration numbers or other sensitive identifiers were exposed.

Additionally, approximately 31 million dormant IDs and encrypted passwords—which had previously been deleted of identifiable personal data such as names and dates of birth—were also found to be compromised. Netmarble explained that these IDs were created on the PC portal, where users could register up to five IDs per person.

The breach also impacted information from around 66,000 PC café franchise owners (prior to 2015), including names, IDs, and email addresses, as well as data from approximately 17,000 current and former employees, such as names, dates of birth, and corporate email addresses.

Netmarble stated that it disclosed the detailed scope of the breach to minimize customer confusion and ensure transparency.
