[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hanwha Systems announced on the 25th that it will acquire an additional 62,000 shares of its U.S.-based subsidiary, HS USA Holdings, through a rights offering worth KRW 84.6 billion.

The company stated that the investment is intended to support HS USA Holdings’ equity participation in Hanwha Shipping, a maritime transport company established by Hanwha Ocean through its U.S. subsidiary.

Hanwha Systems expects the capital injection will secure a stake in Hanwha Ocean and create synergies between the defense company’s cybersecurity solutions and the shipbuilding and maritime transport sectors. Last year, Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Ocean jointly acquired a 100% stake in Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia, demonstrating their active involvement in shipbuilding investments.
