[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, June 20, 2025 — Lotte Chemical is ramping up its asset-light strategy and business restructuring by offloading non-core operations. The company announced on Thursday that it will sell its water treatment membrane manufacturing plant in Daegu to Sinoporex Membrane.

Following the signing of a business transfer agreement, both parties aim to complete the deal next month, pending fulfillment of key conditions. The transaction value remains undisclosed under a confidentiality agreement.

The Daegu plant began full-scale commercial production in 2019 and specializes in manufacturing and selling ultra-filtration (UF) membranes used for wastewater treatment (including municipal and industrial) and water purification (for potable and industrial use).

This move is part of Lotte Chemical’s broader asset-light transformation, which has already generated approximately KRW 1.7 trillion in liquidity this year. In the first half of 2025, the company sold its entire 75.01% stake in its Pakistani PTA subsidiary, LOTTE CHEMICAL Pakistan Limited (LCPL), securing about KRW 97.9 billion. It also raised KRW 650 billion by leveraging its 25% stake in Indonesian subsidiary PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia (LCI) and sold a 4.9% stake in Japan-based Resonac for KRW 275 billion.

Lotte Chemical says the strategy will allow it to focus on high-value core businesses while strengthening financial flexibility.
