[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Kakao Mobility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with X Taxi, a Japanese taxi association representing about 100 companies nationwide, to collaborate on building smart taxi infrastructure.

The partnership aims to promote digital transformation in the taxi industry, focusing on areas such as fleet management systems, AI-powered dispatch, demand prediction, and improved ride experiences for foreign passengers.

During their visit to Kakao Mobility’s headquarters in Pangyo, X Taxi representatives were introduced to key innovations including Kakao’s taxi management software, unmanned dispatch kiosks, and app-based taxi meters.

They also showed strong interest in Kakao's autonomous driving technologies, which have been piloted in multiple Korean cities. The collaboration is expected to help Japan’s aging taxi industry accelerate digital innovation through Korean best practices.
