[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] A state-of-the-art 2nm plant built in Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan by TSMC, the world's largest foundry company, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Citing sources, Taiwanese media reported on the 18th that TSMC is spurring the construction of 2-nano production facilities to cope with the strong growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) markets.

The source explained that TSMC is moving with the aim of completing the 2-nano 1 plant (P1) of the 22 Fab (fab, semiconductor production plant) to be built at the Kaohsiung Science Complex within this year.

He added that he is preparing equipment to be brought into the factory in advance.

Experts say TSMC is generally dominant in the 2-nano sector.
