[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Naver is accelerating its investment in robotics technology, with one-third of all patents registered in the first half of 2025 related to robotics. According to Korea’s patent information platform KIPRIS, Naver registered a total of 72 patents in H1 2025, 24 of which focused on robotics and robot control systems.
The patents encompass core technologies for operating autonomous and remote-controlled robots in robot-friendly buildings such as Naver’s second headquarters, "1784." Registered technologies include large-scale indoor/outdoor mapping systems, robot training methods, and building-integrated robot charging and control systems. Notable patents include:
Systems and methods for controlling robots within robot-friendly buildings
Computing devices for indoor/outdoor large-scale mapping
Gesture-based robot control in built environments
Offline robot skill training methods
These innovations are designed to support autonomous navigation and intelligent control of service robots within complex building infrastructures.
Naver has been actively piloting various robotics platforms. It operates “Rookie,” an AI-powered autonomous delivery robot; the dual-arm robot “AMBIDEX”; and high-load logistics robots “SeRo” and “GaRo” within its data centers. It also developed the drawing robot “ARTO-1,” the robot-specific operating system “ARC Mind,” and a suite of mapping devices (M, T, R, and P series).
The company is expected to unveil an upgraded version of Rookie in the second half of 2025, further strengthening its robotics lineup that spans autonomous services, physical intelligence research, and robotics software innovation.
