[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Daehan Flour Mills, which is under investigation over alleged price-fixing in the flour market, announced that it will lower prices on select flour products by an average of 4.6% starting next month.
The price cuts will apply mainly to large 20-kilogram packages supplied to restaurants and food service businesses, including Gompyo Premium Noodle Flour (Australian wheat), Gom (First-grade medium-strength flour), and Elephant (First-grade strong flour). Retail products supplied to distributors, including 3kg, 2.5kg, and 1kg packages, will also be subject to the price reduction.
A Daehan Flour Mills official said the decision was made despite ongoing external uncertainties such as negotiations over U.S. tariffs. “As the won–dollar exchange rate has shown signs of stabilization, and in line with the government’s policy direction on price stability and growing consumer demand, we decided to lower prices,” the official said. “We hope this measure will provide tangible relief to household grocery expenses.”
Daehan Flour Mills is currently under investigation by prosecutors on suspicion of coordinating flour price increases and shipment volumes with other companies over several years through prior consultations.
