[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] LG Household & Health Care has decided not to proceed with its planned acquisition of skincare brand Torriden, opting instead to focus on enhancing the competitiveness of its existing beauty portfolio.

The company confirmed on May 19 through a regulatory filing that it has finalized its decision to abandon the acquisition, putting an end to speculation that began earlier this year regarding a potential deal.

In January, LG H&H had stated it was reviewing various strategic options but had not made any concrete decisions, prompting market expectations that the Torriden acquisition could be part of a broader restructuring of its beauty business.

According to industry sources, the deal fell through due to differences between the two parties over key terms and conditions.

Despite the cancellation, LG H&H plans to continue refining its business structure and strengthening its beauty segment. The company has been rolling out new initiatives, including the launch of products under its luxury derma brand and collaborations aimed at reinforcing premium brand positioning.

The move signals a strategic shift toward organic growth and internal brand development rather than expansion through acquisitions.
