[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group, met with Abdullah bin Bandar Al Saud, the Saudi Arabian Minister of National Defense, to discuss cooperation in the defense industry.

On the 6th, Hanwha announced that Vice Chairman Kim and Minister Abdullah held a meeting at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on the 4th, where they agreed to collaborate in the defense sector under Saudi Arabia's national development strategy, "Vision 2030."

During the meeting, Vice Chairman Kim emphasized Hanwha's commitment to contributing to both security and the economy by localizing and jointly developing defense technologies in Saudi Arabia, as well as offering MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services.

"Saudi Arabia aims to localize over 50% of its defense industry, which has traditionally relied on imports, as part of its 'Vision 2030,'" Hanwha explained.

Minister Abdullah responded by expressing hope for a long-term strategic relationship between Saudi Arabia and Hanwha, stating, "Through mutual cooperation, we aim to establish a defense hub in the Middle East and Africa."

Vice Chairman Kim underscored that cooperation between Saudi Arabia's Ministry of National Defense and Hanwha represents an opportunity to strengthen a future-oriented partnership in both economic and security domains.
