[Alpha Biz= Kim Minyoung] NDsoft, South Korea’s largest internet media content management system (CMS) provider, and Langfun Media, a media-tech company that has received AI usage credits from Google, have joined forces.
The two companies will launch a “free AI news agency” service for approximately 3,600 media outlets nationwide starting this month.
According to AlphaBiz’s exclusive coverage on June 12, the companies have reached a final agreement to integrate Langfun Media’s proprietary AI reporting support system, “NOOKI,” into NDsoft’s CMS solution and provide it free of charge to all 3,600 client media organizations.
The move comes just about two months after the two companies formed a service supply partnership in April, marking a bold expansion of their collaboration.
The service is referred to as an “AI news agency” in that AI takes over the role of sourcing news materials typically handled by traditional wire services.
NOOKI, developed by Langfun Media, differs significantly from conventional AI tools that simply convert user-input text into article format. It is specialized in identifying and planning newsworthy topics by continuously collecting and analyzing global press releases, public data, and social media trends in real time.
The technology has been recognized for its capabilities, recently securing investment from The Ventures and being selected for Google’s Startup TIPS program.
Journalists will be able to instantly access story ideas tailored to their publication’s editorial direction, along with optimized headlines and key reporting points, directly within the NDsoft CMS interface they already use.
As a result, media organizations using NDsoft’s services are expected to significantly reduce the time spent searching for news topics online. Instead, they can focus on deciding whether to pursue a story and determining the direction of coverage based on AI-curated ideas.
The platform also incorporates advanced distribution technology tailored to the generative AI era. In addition to standard search engine optimization (SEO) for platforms like Google, it applies generative engine optimization (GEO), enabling articles to be more readily cited as primary sources by conversational AI systems such as ChatGPT.
Jung Jin-wook, an IT journalist and CEO of OY&J, noted that small and mid-sized media outlets have traditionally relied on major news agencies such as Yonhap News Agency and Newsis, often incurring significant content fees.
“With the introduction of this free service, media outlets will be able to receive customized story ideas discovered by AI in real time without cost, which is expected to bring significant changes to the media ecosystem,” he said.
The partnership is expected to generate strong synergy by combining NDsoft’s robust infrastructure, built over 26 years in the online news market, with Langfun Media’s technology, validated through Google-backed support.
Kim Hyung-jin, CEO of Langfun Media, told AlphaBiz that the system collects and monitors online information in real time, evaluates the importance of data, and provides up-to-date insights related to reporting subjects.
“While our ultimate goal is to build an AI news agency, we remain cautious about using the term ‘news agency’ at this stage,” he said.
He added, “Through this large-scale transition to a free service, we aim to establish a new media automation ecosystem where journalists can fully focus on in-depth insight and analysis, while AI handles operational tasks such as basic information gathering.”
