[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Ocean announced on the 4th that it has filed a complaint with the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency to punish executives of Hyundai Heavy Industries who ordered, intervened in, or were involved in the leak of the concept design of Korea's next destroyer (KDDX) by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
This is a follow-up to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration's decision not to restrict bidding for the KDDX project for HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which caused a stir over the leak of military secrets.
Nine employees of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries were found guilty in November last year of secretly acquiring military secrets related to KDDX and sharing them through the company's internal network, but executives and representatives were excluded. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration allowed HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' KDDX project on the 27th of last month, saying, "The involvement of representatives or executives, which is a premise of violating the pledge of integrity, has not been confirmed as an objective fact."
"Despite the organized criminal activities of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration exempted representatives and executives from sanctions because they were not criminally punished," Hanwha Ocean said in a complaint. "Hanhwa Ocean cannot erase concerns that serious and obvious criminal acts may be overshadowed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' 'tail-cutting' cover-up." He added, "We urge the investigation of representatives and executives of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries."
