[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Krafton achieved its highest quarterly revenue ever, driven by the continued popularity of its flagship intellectual property (IP) "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG).
On the 8th, Krafton announced that its revenue for the first quarter of this year, on a consolidated basis, reached approximately 6.659 trillion won, marking a 23.6% increase compared to the same period last year. This marks the highest quarterly revenue in the company's history. Operating profit for the same period increased by 9.7% to 310.5 billion won, while net profit recorded a 30.5% increase to 348.6 billion won.
The company saw growth across all sectors, including revenue and traffic, by leveraging various services based on the PUBG IP.
In the PC and console segment, the popularity of updates such as the Rondo map released in the fourth quarter of last year and growth-oriented weapon skins released in the first quarter of this year contributed to reaching the highest monthly active user (MAU) and revenue figures since the game went free-to-play in 2022. The mobile segment also experienced steady traffic growth based on the 6th-anniversary theme mode and home ground content.
PUBG Mobile India (BGMI) attracted user interest through content tailored to local festivals in India and joint marketing with Bollywood movies. Additionally, to improve profitability, Krafton established the UniPin web store, a third-party payment platform.
Krafton aims to leap to the top publisher position in the Indian market this year, alongside providing stable service for BGMI.
