[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Cartier, the luxury brand under Richemont Group, has confirmed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its customer information systems.
According to industry sources on June 3, Cartier notified customers via email stating that “an unauthorized third party temporarily gained access to Cartier’s systems and acquired certain customer information.”
The company emphasized that it responded promptly to the incident, implementing enhanced security measures and working closely with top-tier external cybersecurity experts. Authorities have also been informed of the breach.
Cartier stated that information such as customer names, email addresses, and countries of residence may have been compromised. However, it assured customers that passwords, credit card numbers, and other banking information were not affected.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customers,” Cartier added in its statement.
This incident follows similar data breaches at other luxury brands, including Dior and Tiffany, which are currently under investigation by South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission.
