[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced on June 23 that three more instances of group food poisoning linked to the consumption of Pulmuone-supplied bread products have been confirmed in Yongin (Gyeonggi Province), Naju (South Jeolla Province), and Changwon (South Gyeongsang Province).

These cases occurred between May 16 and 19, prior to the product recall. The outbreaks were reported at a daycare center in Yongin, and schools in Naju and Changwon, involving 30, 16, and 2 symptomatic individuals, respectively. With these additions, the total number of mass salmonella infections traced to Pulmuone bread products has risen to seven cases, affecting 256 people in total.

The outbreak was initially identified last month after bread served at two group meal facilities in Cheongju and Jincheon (North Chungcheong Province) caused food poisoning symptoms. Subsequent investigations confirmed the presence of identical strains of Salmonella bacteria in both the food and patient samples.
