Shinsegae Department Store to Launch Premium Travel Platform ‘VIA SHINSEGAE’

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Seoul, July 17, 2025 — Shinsegae Department Store announced today that it will officially launch its premium travel platform VIA SHINSEGAE on August 5, marking the first time a department store in Korea has directly entered the travel industry by planning and operating its own travel products.



Designed exclusively for VIP customers, VIA SHINSEGAE aims to provide transformative experiences centered around learning and philosophy, offering unique travel programs such as wellness journeys, Arctic exploration, and motorsport experiences—unlike conventional offerings from traditional travel agencies.



The travel packages are classified into two tiers—Masterpiece and Origin—and feature four thematic categories.



The Masterpiece tier focuses on once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Highlights include attending the final race of the 2025 motorsports season in Abu Dhabi with VIP seating, exclusive team lounge access, and behind-the-scenes interaction with racing technicians. Another program features an Arctic expedition aboard a luxury icebreaker with renowned explorer James Hooper. There’s also a tour of the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show accompanied by gold-medalist garden designer Jihae Hwang.



The Origin tier offers distinctive travel experiences that reflect Shinsegae’s identity. Notable packages include wellness-themed programs in New Zealand and Greece with Dr. Hee-won Jung, a prominent geriatric medicine expert known for her work on “slow aging.” Additionally, domestic cultural heritage trips developed in collaboration with Korea’s Cultural Heritage Administration will also be offered.



All VIA SHINSEGAE packages include full-service amenities such as preview academies, personalized travel amenities, luxury vehicle transfers to the airport, and premium check-in support.



Customers can earn Shinsegae VIP status points equivalent to up to 100% of the VIA SHINSEGAE purchase value.



Prices for these premium experiences are expected to be high. For example, a recent pilot program for “The Open” included access to the opening match, behind-the-scenes tours, and 90 holes of golf before and after the tournament, priced at approximately KRW 35 million per person.



In addition, Shinsegae will also launch a new e-commerce platform called BEYOND SHINSEGAE on the same day, August 5. This new platform will offer direct shopping, payment, and delivery services through Shinsegae’s dedicated mobile app, expanding beyond the current SSG.com channel.
