[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, June 30, 2025 – Hyundai Steel announced it will temporarily suspend operations at its Incheon rebar plant from July 21 to August 31 for a 42-day large-scale summer maintenance program.

This marks the second shutdown of the Incheon facility in 2025. Earlier in April, the company halted operations at the plant for one month in response to falling rebar prices, citing production cutbacks.

Hyundai Steel emphasized that this upcoming suspension is part of its regular annual maintenance, not a cost-driven production halt. During this period, employees will continue reporting to work, although the production lines will remain idle.

The company's Dangjin plant also entered a 17-day maintenance period starting June 29, with rebar production there suspended until July 15.

While summer maintenance is a routine procedure, this year’s extended 42-day timeline at Incheon is notably longer than the typical 2–3 week schedule. Industry sources suggest the prolonged halt may reflect strategic inventory and pricing considerations, amid declining rebar stockpiles and expectations for a market price rebound.
