200,000 units of 43 car models, including Hyundai, Kia, and Mercedes, recalled due to defects found

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 24th that it will take voluntary corrective measures after defects were found in 206,844 units of 43 models manufactured, imported and sold by Kia, Hyundai Motor, Mercedes-Benz Korea and Stellantis Korea.

In Kia, Niro HEV 111,307 units, which have been confirmed to have poor engine power transmission control units, will be recalled from May 7. K9 2,1770 units, which lack durability of electronic control hydraulic devices, will be recalled from April 24, while Niro HEV and Niro PHEV 7,287 units, which have been confirmed to have poor up and down conversion of headlights, will be recalled from May 2.

Hyundai Motor will also take corrective action from April 30 due to a lack of durability of its electronic control hydraulic system.

In Mercedes-Benz Korea, the connection bolts of the 48V battery ground of 12,629 units of 12 models, including the Mercedes-Benz S500 4MATIC, will not be fixed, while 12,797 units of 21 models, including the A 220 Sedan, will not meet the dashboard display safety standards, and 1,512 units of three models, including the E 300 4MATIC, will be collected from May 3 due to inadequate transmission wiring.

In addition, Stellantis Korea's 2,483 Zipcheroki units have been recalled since April 30 after a drainage design error in the power lift gate was confirmed.
