[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, September 17, 2025 — The Hyundai Mobis labor union announced that it will continue its strike independently, despite earlier indications that the decision would hinge on the outcome of Hyundai Motor’s negotiations.
According to the union, although there had been an agreement to raise wages at a level equivalent to Hyundai Motor, management has failed to honor the commitment. As a result, the union decided to launch a stand-alone strike for the first time in 25 years.
The Hyundai Mobis union, affiliated with the Hyundai Motor branch of the Korean Metal Workers’ Union, rejected the company’s proposal of a performance bonus equivalent to 400% of base pay plus an additional KRW 15 million. Instead, it has been staging partial strikes in protest.
