Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it will appoint Jeon as the new head of DS division and Kyung Joo-hyun, the existing head of DS division, as the head of future business planning. As the two heads exchanged positions, the weight class of the DS division chief was also upgraded from president to vice chairman again. Through this, Samsung Electronics will switch from a "two-top" system to a "three-top" system in earnest, including Han Jong-hee, head of the device experience (DX) division, and Chung Hyun-ho, head of the business support TF.

Jeon, a former vice chairman of LG Semiconductor, joined Samsung Electronics' memory business division in 2000 and led the "semiconductor myth" while serving as head of its memory business division from 2014 to 2017. After moving to Samsung SDI in 2017, he pioneered the electric vehicle battery business. Last year, he was appointed as the first head of the newly established Future Business Planning Group, leading the group's core business.
