[Alpha Biz= Kim Minyoung] SEOUL, South Korea — Celebrated musical actor and Hongik University professor Nam Kyung-joo has been referred to the prosecution without detention on charges of sexual assault. Following the police action, Hongik University has reportedly begun internal procedures for disciplinary measures.

The Allegations
The Seoul Bangbae Police Station announced on the 11th that it sent Nam to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office last month. He faces charges of "sexual intercourse by abuse of authority" (위력에 의한 간음).

The Incident: Nam is accused of sexually assaulting a woman, identified as "A," at a location in Seoul last year.

The Victim's Response: Reports indicate that "A," feeling threatened, managed to flee the scene and immediately contacted the 112 emergency hotline to report the crime.

The Investigation: Although Nam reportedly denied the allegations during police questioning, authorities concluded there was sufficient evidence to support the charges and proceeded with the referral to the prosecution.

In light of the criminal investigation, Hongik University, where Nam serves as an associate professor in the Department of Performing Arts, has moved to take personnel action.
