[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] According to the Korea Consumer Agency's price information portal, "Chamgak," the average price of bibimbap, one of the eight popular dining items, rose by 0.7% (76 won) from 10,962 won in August to 11,038 won last month. The price of bibimbap has been steadily increasing since surpassing the 10,000 won mark in January of last year. This rise is believed to be influenced by a significant increase in vegetable prices.

The price of samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) also increased by 1.4% (231 won), from 17,038 won in August to 17,269 won last month. The average price of samgyetang surpassed 15,000 won in July 2022 and reached 16,000 won in January of last year, exceeding 17,000 won in August, just before the end of summer.

In contrast, the price of gimbap fell by 0.7% (23 won), dropping from 3,485 won to 3,462 won, maintaining the same price as in June and July.

The prices of the remaining five items remained unchanged last month: jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) at 7,308 won, kalguksu (noodle soup) at 9,308 won, naengmyeon (cold noodles) at 11,923 won, a serving of samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) at 20,083 won (200g), and kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) at 8,192 won.

The publicly disclosed prices reflect average costs, and consumers often feel that the actual dining prices are higher. In famous restaurants in Seoul, a bowl of samgyetang can cost over 20,000 won, while naengmyeon can often exceed 15,000 won.
