[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, August 18, 2025 – Hyundai Motor Company announced that its U.S. manufacturing subsidiary, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA), has suspended production of the electrified Genesis GV70. The decision took effect in May 2025, just over two years after the model entered mass production in February 2023.



The move comes as part of Hyundai’s efforts to enhance production efficiency amid sluggish sales of the electrified GV70 in the U.S. market. Cumulative sales of the model are estimated at around 200 units, placing it in the category of low-demand vehicles.



In addition, the imminent termination of federal electric vehicle (EV) tax credit benefits in the United States was cited as another factor influencing the decision.



Despite this adjustment, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama remains a key production hub for the company in North America. The facility continues to produce the Tucson, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, and Santa Cruz, with an annual capacity of up to 390,000 units.



Hyundai Motor reaffirmed its commitment to the U.S. market, noting that it will continue to expand its electrification strategy while optimizing its product portfolio to meet evolving consumer demand.
