[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 17th, KT announced that it has finalized an agreement with its labor union regarding its workforce restructuring plan, which includes the implementation of a special voluntary retirement program.

The restructuring aims to reassign certain roles that require streamlining, creating a more flexible and efficient work environment. The new model will provide employees with multiple options, offering reasonable compensation and extended employment opportunities.

KT will establish two new subsidiaries dedicated to network infrastructure construction and maintenance. Employees in relevant roles will be reassigned to these new companies or other affiliates within the group. The new subsidiaries are expected to position themselves as "technical expertise companies," targeting external markets and new business ventures.

Employees transitioning to the new subsidiaries will be able to continue working in their current locations, with an option for three additional years of employment after reaching retirement age.

For employees who do not wish to transfer, a special voluntary retirement option will be temporarily available. KT plans to offer fair compensation, including a special retirement package. This option will also be open to employees with 15 or more years of service and at least six months remaining before retirement, regardless of their current role.

For those opting to remain at KT, there will be opportunities to transition into new roles, such as enhancing sales capacity. KT will provide an 8-week training program to support employees in their new positions.

KT also confirmed that its annual investment in network infrastructure will remain unchanged, ensuring stability and quality. The decision-making process within the new subsidiaries will be more efficient, allowing for flexible and timely responses to field conditions. This is expected to improve the overall stability and quality of KT’s network infrastructure.
